y'ar mateys!!!!!!!

The tall ships were docked in Toronto this weekend!!!!

(though when I looked through my photos - I had more artsy fartsy shots of rigging
than I did of acutal ships!  Que sera, sera!

Sunday 9 June 2013

... guess who I found perched on a column outside St. Michael's Cathedral - on Sunday no less!

Don't know if it's our Jorgy or not - but it was fun to see how "at home" he was flitting around the downtown core.  (I was on yet another ROM walking tour, and was equally impressed by the number of people on the tour who immediately identified him as a red tail hawk!)

P.S. ... the non-architecture gawking persons can stop reading now - but for those who do gawk - I recommend popping into St. Mike's and getting a look at the hand painted ceiling.  ROM tour guide assured me it is all original.  No photos, 'cause for once, I demonstrated some restraint and consideration and didn't run and up down the centre aisle like a mad woman snapping photos right, left and centre!

... the Bank of Montreal/Hockey Hall of Fame building on the northwest corner of Front and Yonge Streets.  The door that isn't the entrance to the Hockey Hall of Fame.  Climb up the steps, stand on tippy toe and squint through the grimy glass at the stained glass dome over, what I'm guessing, was the main banking hall -

(I couldn't tippy toe tall enough to shoot the bottom panels with any real clarity.)

(and by this point, I could just make out a
security guard heading in my direction!)

... in the interests of full disclosure - it was a ROM walking tour guide who pointed out the ceiling.  I may actually have to purchase an admission and check out the dome from inside.  I have been to the Hockey Hall of Fame - a couple of times, in fact - but I have absolutely no recollection of seeing the ceiling!
